About me!

My Professional Mission

My mission in life has always been to make others around me happy, and that is something that has translated to my career quite seamlessly. Being a hospitality professional, it is in my nature to take care of guests and provide everyone with an amazing experience, no matter what kind of event I may be working in.

Professional Background and Expereince

I have worked in the Hospitality industry for over six years now. My roles have included working in the restaurant industry as a hostess, to-go operator, and server. I dabbled in the hotel industry at the Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando as a concierge, and now I have transitioned into the Live Entertainment world, particularly sporting events.

Leadership Experience

Being a leader has always come naturally to me, so because of this, I have tried to hone in on this skill and make sure that I utilize it in all that I do! I don't just lead... I spark momentum, and turn it into memorable actions.

Leadership Philosophy

I would describe my leadership philosophy as leading with a passion to want to see positive change being made and doing so by finding a way to maintain a relationship of respect between the leader and the followers through participative leadership. It is a very important task to be a leader, but it’s a very fine line one has to learn to navigate. How I like to do so is to step up as a leader when others feel lost or need guidance and you have a clearer mindset or goal in mind. Then with this though, I always make sure to get the follower’s input and thoughts during the project. People will always have their own opinions, so it’s necessary to take them into account because that is how you get to having a good personable relationship with your followers.

I find that I keep this philosophy maintained and in action with most cases of me becoming a leader. I am a very consistent person with everyone I encounter, so remembering to stay humble when you are given such a task of leadership I find to be quite crucial. With my leadership philosophy, I hope to be seen as someone with a consistent and amiable personality, reliable, giving honest (but desired) advice and a person who prioritizes the success of my projects and my people. I have taken all of this and used it towards being a participative leader organization experience at UCF, at my jobs, in each of my classes, and I will apply this to my roles post-graduation.

Personal Service Reflection of my time in the LEAD Scholars Program

I had an amazing experience in the Lead Scholars Program in my first two years at UCF. Over the course of the four semesters in Lead, I volunteered at many organizations in the Orlando area, and one back home in Houston as well. Out of everywhere I volunteered in my collegiate career though, a few left the biggest impact on my heart thus far. Those include my volunteer work at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Orlando, and being an I9 Flag Football Coach.

I would say a majority of my volunteer work as a UCF Student was with Second Harvest Food Bank. I really loved being able to sort food that would be distributed to people all over the Orlando region that were in need of a meal and didn’t have the same access to food like I do.

Secondly, and probably most memorable, was my time as a Flag Football Coach with I9 in the fall of 2022. My roommate Amanda Ng, and I, were tasked to coach 10, 7-9 year old boys, and that was the experience of a lifetime. I loved being a mentor and having the trust of these boys I had never known before then. The most amazing part other than gaining their trust, having fun with them, and working towards a common goal of the enjoying game, was the fact that us two 20 year old girls were able to lead the team to an undefeated season, even beating out teams led by 40 year old men!

Overall, it was an amazing experience being able to give back to my community and learn the importance of serving others while being a leader. It gave me many life lessons, wonderful memories, and stories that I will take with me forever! Service is a big part of my life and who I am. I know that the Lead Scholars program was a huge part in helping me solidify that.
